Maximizing line efficiency with IMC upgrade

    26 Mar 2024

Enhancing line control for optimal performance

Brückner's fully automated line control system, the Integrated Machine Control (IMC), formerly known as IPC, is a key component for a successful line operation. It is essential for a reliable and stable production and allows operators and plant managers to control their processes effectively.

Upgrading to the IMC, which incorporates the latest and most advanced technology, not only reduces the risk of unplanned downtimes but also increases efficiency by implementing numerous functions. That's why the IMC upgrade is one of the most requested services of Brückner Servtec. Each year, Brückner Servtec upgrades more than 15 lines with new controls, function, and convenience.

A variety of solutions are available depending on the age of the line, equipment availability, or risk factors. These solutions range from basic server upgrades to enhance software security to comprehensive upgrades of line controls with drives, offering state-of-the-art control features. All these solutions are available for Brückner lines as well as for third-party lines from other manufacturers.

Key benefits of an IMC upgrade

Transferring to IMC provides several advantages, including:

    • A boost in efficiency through improved process control and software features, new automation functions like automated ramping, and full control over line performance thanks to the Easy Operation (EOP) concept

    • Minimized risk of unplanned downtimes

    • Enhanced protection against cyber-attacks with the latest firewall technology

IMC upgrade process with Brückner Servtec

Step 1: Analysis of electronical line status
Before initiating an IMC upgrade, our Brückner Servtec specialists analyze the status of the electrical components, assess parts availability, parts compatibility with existing infrastructure, security needs, and potential feature additions for efficiency and output enhancement.

Step 2: Definition of scope of supply with customer
Following these comprehensive analyses, the upgrade scope is established collaboratively with the customer. This sets the stage for Brückner and the customer to start the detailed planning, which includes scheduling time slots and accounting for potential downtimes. At the same time, our specialists diligently work in the background coordinating engineers, parts and important tools to ensure a smooth implementation.

Step 3: Implementation and customer on-site support and training
The last step of the IMC upgrade is the actual implementation of the new components, with the Brückner engineers providing the customer with full on-site support. They guide customers and employees from the initial shutdown of the line through the details of the upgrade process until the line is back in stable operation. In addition, they provide comprehensive training for the customer's personnel to ensure that they are well versed in the new processes implemented.

Thomas Friedl, Head of Electrical Upgrading:

"The Integrated Machine Control (IMC) system is not just about improving line efficiency; it's about transforming the way film stretching lines operate, reducing waste, and ensuring that every part of the production process is optimized to achieve highest quality."
