2025 Brückner Open House Concludes Successfully
On July 10th, the Brückner Open House, themed "Keep it running, start coating!", was successfully held at the Crowne Plaza in Suzhou. The event focused on the latest breakthroughs and industrial applications of the inline coating technology (ILC), attracting over 200 technical experts and industry leaders from fields such as packaging materials and functional films. Through technical discussions, case analyses, and real-time interactions, the conference explored the inline coating technology in depth and gave new impetus to the industry development.
The conference began with welcoming speeches by Dr. Axel von Wiedersperg, CEO of Brückner Group, and Sebastian Lange, CEO of Brückner Servtec. Mr. Wiedersperg pointed out that the current turbulent global situation poses challenges for the packaging industry, and technological innovation is the core driver for sustainable development. He emphasized Brückner Group's commitment to the Chinese market and its customers, with ongoing investments to expand production facilities in the Suzhou Industrial Park, aiming to provide the best local services. Mr. Lange's presentation highlighted Brückner Group's new China base, scheduled for completion and operation in 2027, and shared a forecast of global BOPP market supply and demand for the next 15 years. He stated that Brückner Servtec would continue to focus on customer needs, ensuring smooth equipment operation and improving production efficiency.
In the morning session, the seminar centered on sustainable packaging and technological applications. Kiril Dimitrov, Flexible Packaging Platform Lead of Nestlé, shared insights from a brand perspective on market demands for flexible packaging and future industry trends. Willi Lindemann, R&D Engineer of Brückner Maschinenbau, delivered a report titled "Inline Coating Technology (ILC) – An Important Step towards Sustainable Packaging Solutions", highlighting the critical role of ILC in driving sustainability in the packaging industry. The report explained how coating technology, as a key industry solution, helps companies to reduce production costs, enhance environmental benefits, and create greater value, thereby promoting the green transformation of the packaging sector. Mitsui Chemicals Group approached the topic from the perspective of a "circular economy", leveraging its technology and products to collaborate on optimal solutions for recyclable mono-material packaging and added packaging value. Nick Copeland, R&D Director of Barrier Solutions at Bobst, provided an in-depth analysis of "Vacuum metallization for enhanced barrier performance of ILC films," sharing the key role of the technology and application cases in improving film barrier properties and supporting sustainable packaging.
The afternoon agenda focused on technological advancements and market prospects. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on high-end topics such as "BOPP Inline Coating Technology – Principles, Applications, Market Trends, and Industry Value" (WingNing), "Thin Film Coating Agents Product Introduction" (Sensho Chemical), "The Application of Functional Films in Terms of Monomaterial" (Jiangsu Caihua Packaging), "Novel Inline Coating Technology for Ultra High Barrier Films" (Henkel) and "Upgrading Solutions for Ultra-High-Barrier and Monomaterial Structures" (Brückner Servtec). From technical principles to market applications, and from product development to industry trends, the sessions comprehensively showcased the latest developments in the field of film coating.
As a significant exchange event in the film coating industry, the 2025 Brückner Open House provided a high-quality platform for industry collaboration, fostering deep integration among academia, research, and industry. It offered strong support for driving innovation in film coating technology and promoting sustainable development in the sector.
