New BOPP film capacity for Sub-Saharan Africa

03 Mar 2020

Nigerian film producer Tempo Paper Pulp & Packaging and Brückner team up again

The demand for high-quality packaging film is constantly rising in the heart of Africa, especially in Nigeria, the most populous African country. Taking this into account, Nigeria’s leading producer Tempo Paper Pulp & Packaging Ltd. (Ota, Ogun State) has now signed a contract for its second BOPP film production line. Dr. Seun Obasanjo, CEO of the Tempo Group, says: “Since our first BOPP line started some years ago, markets have developed. Now for us it’s time for further investments. Centrepiece will be our new high-performance BOPP line for the manufacture of various flexible packaging films, scheduled for production start in 2021. Due to the very good experience with our first line we decided to partner with Brückner again.”

The company’s expansion plans also includes a BOPET film production line, a second CPP film production line and more metallizers. Tempo Group’s Deputy Managing Director Nassos Sidirofagis explained: “Our goal is to offer our customers a broad product diversity. In a sense of “one-stop-shopping”, they should be able to find their packaging solutions at one place – at Tempo. And our investment strategy is long-term. We are already thinking of several investments to consolidate our position in the market.’’

Tempo Paper Pulp & Packaging is a member of the Tempo Group, one of the largest packaging manufacturing companies in Nigeria. The company offers a wide range of transparent, white, pearlized and metalized BOPP packaging films for applications such as labeling and food packaging. Tempo Paper Pulp & Packaging’s first BOPP line has a current production capacity of 33,000 TPA.
