Pressure Swing Adsorption
Another technology used to extract CO2 from biogas is the pressure swing adsorption. In this process the biogas is compressed to 20 bars and is conveyed to a molecular sieve adsorber.
Prior to it, H2S and NH3 are irreversibly bounded to an active carbon column. CO2 is retained by the molecular sieves and the increased upgraded biogas can be released to the common natural gas network after analysis. The adsorbers loaded with CO2 are expanded and the adsorbed CO2 is either discharged to the atmosphere or is ready for further use.
